Montana Board of Hail Insurance Approves Refunds
HELENA, Mont. – Montana farmers who bought state hail insurance in 2024 will receive a 10% refund of the premiums they paid. The Montana Board of Hail Insurance approved the refunds after reviewing the actuarial report at its Spring meeting in March.
In 2024, the Montana Department of Agriculture (MDA) issued 262 hail insurance policies covering 308,635 acres in 37 counties.
Additionally, at the Montana Board of Hail Insurance spring board meeting, the Board voted to keep 2025 premiums the same as those charged in 2024.
Serving on the board are producers Chair William Von Bergen of Moccasin, Vince Mattson of Chester, and Jim Schillinger of Baker, Director of the Montana Department of Agriculture Jillien Streit, and Montana State Auditor James Brown.
