Stephen M. Vantassel of the Montana Department of Agriculture Awarded the Professional Recognition Award from the American Association of Pesticide Safety Educators (AAPSE)
SAVANNAH, GA. – Stephen M. Vantassel, Vertebrate Pest Specialist at Montana Department of Agriculture (MDA), was awarded the Professional Recognition Award at the 2023 National Conference of the American Association of Pesticide Safety Educators (AAPSE) in Savannah, Georgia on July 28, 2023.
The AAPSE Professional Recognition award recognizes members who have enhanced public health and the environment through their efforts in pesticide safety education or application certification. "Stephen has contributed a significant number of resources for wildlife and vertebrate pest management regionally and throughout the United States. He conducted multiple informational webinars and live training events that served the pest control community on the local, regional, and national level. As a nationally recognized expert in wildlife management, he is involved with issues related to rodent control, rodenticide use, and pesticide safety. Stephen continues to develop materials and programs that are accessible to pesticide safety educators and state regulators that greatly assists them in their job responsibilities," said Sherman Takatori, AAPSE Committee Co-Chair.
AAPSE is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to enhancing public health and the environment through involvement in education, outreach, and research which directly benefits pest managers, policy makers, and the public. Our members work in land-grant university cooperative extension services, industry, and tribal, state, trust, territory, and federal agencies across the nation and internationally.
