Pest Survey Intern Program

The Montana Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Sciences Division has announced the following research opportunities available from May 15 through September 30, 2009 (dates may vary):

Five Intern Positions for Pest Surveys

Each year, the Montana Department of Agriculture seeks student applicants for the Pest Survey Intern Program. We are looking for applicants that are either in the upper-division or graduating from college, and who are eager to assist the department's pest management section with the current Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey (CAPS) Program. Interns will have the opportunity to travel throughout Montana to take part in multidisciplinary research in the areas of new and exotic pests emerging in the State. Applicable course work would include agriculture, agronomy, biology, entomology, horticulture, or range management.

The Internship Program consists of 40-hour work weeks during the summer, with wages of $10.00 per hour. A State vehicle is provided for all required travel, and all costs for lodging and per diem will be reimbursed. Training and necessary equipment will provided at the beginning of the internship. All participants will be required to maintain a daily log and prepare a final report for their project.

How to Apply

The first screening of applications typically occurs in February. Applications will be accepted until all intern positions are filled. Watch for details in announcements posted at state Job Service offices.
