Scotch broom is a tall, evergreen shrub with taproots and lateral roots that can rob nutrients from desirable range species. Flowers are bright yellow, pea-like and attached at angles from mostly erect stems. Leaves are rounded, about one-half inch long and in clusters of three at the stem.

Scotch boom was added to the Category 4 list in March 2008.
