Recertification Training for Pesticide
Applicators and Dealers
Commercial and government pesticide applicators and pesticide dealers must requalify to maintain their licenses by the end a four (4) year license period. The end of the requalification period depends on the pesticide applicator license categories which are staggered over a four (4) year period. Applicators and dealers may requalify (recertify) by examination or by attending training courses approved by the Department.
Applicators and dealers who choose to requalify by training must attend at least 12 hours of approved training during the four-year requalification period. An applicator or dealer may not accumulate all 12 hours in a single year. Courses approved by the department for recertification credit must be either a minimum of three hours (short course) or a minimum six hours (long course) in length. Content must be pertinent to the pesticide applicator category in which the applicator is licensed.
The Montana Department of Agriculture offers two 6-hour training courses for each license category during each requalification period. Pesticide applicators and dealers may obtain recertification credit by attending training courses sponsored by private industry, educational institutions or government entities that have been approved for recertification credit by the department.
