Meeting on Bitterroot Valley Water Monitoring Results
HELENA, Mont. — The Montana Department of Agriculture will hold a public meeting at the Hamilton Middle School auditorium at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, to discuss the results of water monitoring in the Bitterroot Valley during the summer of 2008.
The department's Groundwater Program collected samples from 23 wells and five streams in both June and September, and analyzed them for 96 pesticide compounds as well as nitrate. The meeting will be hosted by Rick Mulder and Christian Schmidt, hydrologists with the department.
Anyone with an interest in water quality and pesticides, or with questions, comments or concerns for the department is urged to attend. The Hamilton Middle School is at 209 South 5th Street.
