Montana Alfalfa Seed Committee
The Montana Alfalfa Seed Committee provides direction for the development of research and marketing for the continued growth of the alfalfa seed industry of Montana. The Alfalfa Seed Program is administered by the Rural Development Division under the Alfalfa Seed Industry Act.
The committee is appointed by the Governor and composed of eight members as follows:
(a) five members who grow alfalfa seed within the state and derive a substantial portion of their income from handling, packing, shipping, buying, or selling alfalfa seed, or acting as a broker or factor of alfalfa seed;
(b) two members who grow alfalfa seed within the state and also rear alfalfa leaf-cutting bees; and
(c) the director of the Montana Department of Agriculture or the director's authorized representative.
