Produce Program

Cherries

The produce program ensures that quality fruits and vegetables are imported. Export inspection services are provided for potatoes, cherries and other produce; and upon request receiving point inspections are provided to document condition and grade of produce. For links to the produce inspection services of other states visit the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Inspection and Standardization Agencies (AFVISA) web site.

Licensing year runs from January 1 through December 31. Shipping point inspections of over 2 million CWT of seed potatoes and 1,000,000 pounds of cherries occurs annually. Inspection fees are assessed on potatoes and cherries to support the program. Assessment fees at the distributor level are collected quarterly for all produce distributed in Montana.
