Since July 2012, the Montana Noxious Weed Education Campaign has undergone many changes. Under the direction of the executive committee comprised of federal and state agency representatives that oversees the campaign, formerly titled the Montana Statewide Noxious Weed Awareness and Education Campaign, is now called the Montana Noxious Weed Education Campaign (MNWEC).
Along with a name change, a new logo has been created. The new logo is simple in design and clean in representation with an outline of the state of Montana. The spotted knapweed flower was chosen to appear on the new logo because this noxious weed occurs in every county in Montana and has been a nuisance since it was first reported in Montana in the early 1920’s. A new mission statement has also been created to better suit noxious weed educational efforts in the state of Montana.
