Mint and Mint Oil Production Program

Mint in field

The Montana Mint Committee manages this program, which is administratively attached to the department. The goal is to enable growers to use fees to promote and improve the production of Montana-grown mint through marketing activities and research on measures to prevent or control mint diseases and pests.

To pay for the program, the first purchaser of any mint oil produced in Montana must obtain a license and pay an assessment of 8 cents per pound purchased (on amounts greater than 1,000 pounds per year).

Fees:

Licensing fee: $20.00
Assessment fee: $0.08 per pound of mint oil purchased
