Helena, Mont. – As Spring transitions to Summer and we finish up planting and branding, pulse growers throughout Montana will have the opportunity to make their voice heard over the coming weeks. The Montana Department of Agriculture (MDA), on behalf of the Montana Pulse Advisory Committee (MPAC), is mailing surveys to the state’s pulse growers to gauge interest in raising the assessment rate from 1% to 1.5% for all pulse commodities. Assessment funds are used to advance the industry through research, marketing and education.
WASHINGTON – America’s farmers and ranchers will soon have the opportunity to strongly represent agriculture in their communities and industry by taking part in the 2017 Census of Agriculture. Conducted every five years by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), the census, to be mailed at the end of this year, is a complete count of all U.S. farms, ranches, and those who operate them.
